Due to COVID, schools were shut and taking books to children was a challenge. So we piloted a summer library project in Kaza, in August-October 2021. We rented a mud room and set it up as a temporary library space. The space was open to all. The books were catalogued on an online platform and each book was given an accession number. Every time a child borrowed a book, the books were checked out and checked back in when they were returned. In a matter of just couple of months, over 65 children became members of the library and over 2600 were borrowed. One of the members travelled over 15 kms to access the library.
